Hot Jewelry for Stylists

Hot Jewelry for Stylists

The top selling items at most of the hair shows lately has been jewelry. If you are looking for an item to sell to the salons or wanting gifts for yourself or stylists for Christmas, ride the current wave of popularity. The more rhinestones and bling, the hotter the item. Last year it was feathers, this year it's rhinestones!

How some sharpeners sell these items in the salon is innovative. One southern sharpener does this subtly with a necklace with shears hanging out his front shirt pocket as he goes into the salon. Another "yankee" sharpener is more direct and enters a  salon with the question, "How would you like to buy two pairs of shears for just $10?" They say, "Sure!" He replies, "I won't guarantee they will cut." Then he takes a pair of rhinestone scissor earrings out of his pocket. He gets a laugh and a sale.

Female sharpeners and some males just wear all the jewelry they can tastefully or sometimes untastefully wear when they are working and even when not working. I sold $50.00 of scissor jewelry to a young man who was not even in the cosmetology business and had no friends in the business. He just liked the looks and bought gifts for his mother, sister and room mate.

It might not be big next year, but hot bling with scissors, dryers, combs, etc are big. Top sellers are bracelets followed by necklaces and earrings. Mostly silver although gold tones have picked up. Broaches sell less. And rings are popular.

Another thing that will help you in your sales is that Premiere Shows have stopped the sale of most jewelry unless it is a broach or can worn in the hair. This has greatly distressed the vendors and the stylists alike. But this creates a bigger opportunity for sales by sharpeners in the areas of the Premiere Shows... i.e. Ohio, Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
