Schools, Schools, Schools

We have been visiting schools in the Dallas - Ft Worth area all week teaching our "Shear Knowledge" class. We are on our way home tonight feeling tired but happy. The teachers and students seemed so happy to have us. Bob Tiemeyer from Katy, Texas helped with sharpening at the Ft Worth ITS on Tuesday.

I got some more cool scissor tattoo photos. See all the photos on FaceBook.

To see all the photos of the students and teachers at the ITS schools this week including photos of Bob Tiemeyer sharpening and the huge plate of onion rings we ate at Cheddars in Plano go to this link
Gene has his first injury teaching shear knowledge to students. While demonstrating the maneuverability of the Bonika Twister shears he twirled the blades around his face and sliced his forehead. One student alarmed ran out and got him a band-aid. Lucky he didn't snag his eye.

Day 2 Southwest Tour - Roach Museum Hall of Fame

With some extra time on our hands, we visited the CoackRoach Hall of Fame Museum in Plano, TX. This tiny place tucked into a pest control shop has roaches that entered the national best dressed roach contest sponsored by ComBat. The owner who appeared on numerous talk shows began all this over 25 years ago when he hosted a contest for $1000.00 for the biggest cockroach in Dallas. The photos above are as follows: Norman Roach-Well, Melba Marc-roach, Madonna, Elvis and the Com-Bates Motel. Please note the roaches on the had I am wearing.

Still planning on teaching SHEAR Knowledge at a cosmetology school tonight and two schools tomorrow.

Cosmetology Schools

The beauty business may be slower, but the cosmetology schools are are going well and strong. We were just at the ProWay School in Stone Mountain. See photos from the ProWay School. Director Gail Davis put together a great contest for her students with a super combo of prizes for the students who brought in the most clients in October. Danasia Muhummad won first place and LaShonda Thompson was second place.

Heard from a sharpener Friday as we were leaving that he had the possibility of an order of 1000 shears for a major school. He had dropped off our Bonika Jazzy two years ago. Little did he know they had been test marketing that shear against several others and the Jazzy won out. It didn't surprise me because this shear was designed by the owner of 18 beauty schools located around the country. The Jazzy is the ultimate cosmetology school shear.
